These are some pictures from the Seventh Annual Liberty English Camp, held this summer in Trakai, Lithuania.
This is from Tatiana (leading) and Dimitri's engagement party, the whole camp dancing through the town to the island castle. Second in line is Jaroslav Romanchuk of Belarus, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Language of Liberty Institute.
This is Trakai Castle on the island in the lake. Beautifully reconstructed, it is sometimes used for concerts.
At the end of the engagement dance we were all caught in a cloudburst and took refuge in the castle barbican.
Boat building in the traditional way is a local industry and sailing on the lake is one of the activities available.

We definitely do not subscribe to the superstition that learning is drudgery! Weather permitting, classes are often held outdoors.

Camp security was the job of the First Belarusian Volunteer Artillery. Though they had to make do with slightly antiquated equipment, their spirit more than madeup for their lack of technical sophistication. |
